Pure Salmon Japan Selected for Japan’s GX Regional Co-Creation Subsidy Programme

Selection supports the development of the Mie Atlantic salmon project, with a maximum grant application amount of approximately ¥2.6 billion.

Pure Salmon Japan K.K. announces that the Mie RAS bAtlantic Salmon Project has been selected under Japan’s GX Regional Co-Creation Subsidy Programme, following notification from the programme secretariat dated 29 October 2026. The notification establishes a maximum grant application amount of ¥2,600,871,423. Selection
enables the project to proceed to the formal grant application stage; the final grant amount will
be determined following review and issuance of the grant decision.

The application relates to investment in the project’s processing facility, an integral part of Pure Salmon Japan’s plan to bring hatchery, salmon production and processing together on one site in Tsu. This approach is designed to serve Japanese customers through local production, a shorter supply chain and oversight from egg to plate.

The selection represents a further milestone in the development of the Mie facility. Spanning 13.7 hectares, the project is designed to produce 10,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon annually at full capacity. The arrival of the first eggs in May 2026 marked the start of fish production, alongside continued development of the wider facility. Pure Salmon Japan will now work through the programme’s formal application procedures with its project partners and advisers
