LIFE CYCLE

On the journey from the first feasibility study to the optimisation of the RAS facility, Pure Salmon Technology is a life-long partner. We offer expertise in design, project execution, commissioning, maintenance/optimisation and training throughout the facility’s life cycle.

Project preparation

Building a RAS facility is a huge commitment, both for small and large fish farmers. Getting the “perfect” plant is important. At Pure Salmon Technology, we understand that every project is unique and only through good cooperation, we can benefit from the expertise and knowledge of both parties and get the optimal solution.

An early feasability study will help to determine production capacity, choice of solution and equipment, preliminary lay-out and logistics and estimate consumables like water, electricity and chemicals as well as the total price. The result of a feasability study can be to great help in early planning and permit applications.

We strongly believe in tender collaboration. A typical collaboration process lasts from 2 to 5 months. Pure Salmon Technology provides a skilled team with expertise in all engineering disciplines as well as experts within fish health and RAS. During the collaboration phase, we organise workshops where we present the proposed solution, and together with the customer evaluate based on the wishes and inputs. The collaboration phase will result in a fixed price for a tailor-made design based on the agreed-upon solutions. Entering into a collaboration phase with Pure Salmon Technology is a safe choice for getting the right solutions for your project.

Project execution - as agreed

The RAS facility should, of course, be delivered on time, and at agreed cost and quality. Handling large projects requires a good organisation, qualified and experienced people, and funtional working procedures and quality checks. Our certified project managers, with an accumulated 50+years experience with aquaculture projects, are not only supported by their project team but also by a designated project planner and a project controller. In other words, we support our clients with a complete Project Management Office. The Project Management Office is further supported by a suite of digital tools for planning, reporting and measuring baselines that set the conditions for good collaboration throughout a multi stakeholder project.

Quality is at the heart of our project execution. Our HSEQ system ensures that we follow processes and procedures built up from decades of experience within aquaculture project delivery. The HSEQ-system and control gateways demand frequent reviews of design, risk, progress and cost, resulting in continous improvement throughout the project execution. Ultimately, this ensures we deliver a facility in line with the end user’s requirements.

The plants are rigorously tested and documentet by our designated commissioning team. Making sure that everything is ready for the safe introduction of fish. Commissioning is the perfect time for the operators to get practical experience with their new plant. This is why this is an intense period of training, both theoretically and practically.

Facility follow up - you're not alone

A RAS facility is a complex mix of biology, automation and mechanical components that it takes time to master and that needs constant attention and upkeep. Therefore, we offer a 24/7 support hotline as well as expert support and training. The wide range of expertise in Pure Salmon Technology with experts on fish health, microbiology, chemistry, automation, maintenance and mechanical design makes it possible for us to offer multi-disciplinary teams for optimisation or upgrade of existing facilities or help trouble shooting. Larger tasks will be managed by project managers for efficient execution and for some tasks we might organise an R&I group. The challenges are many and so are the opportunities to improve. Even very experienced farmers benefit from an outside look at their operation.

Run-to-failure is quite a frequent operation strategy in the aquaculture industry. However, planned maintenance with necessary spare parts available, reduces risk and stress considerably. We think a good maintenance system and a plan for the spare parts is an absolut must in a modern RAS facility. Through our expertise and the access to our global supplier network, and with the help of NJORD control system, this is easily achieved.

Owning a Pure Salmon Technology facility automatically includes our clients into the Pure Salmon Technology user community. Seminars and meetings are regularly organised where operators and personnell can exchange experiences and be informed about the latest developments. Nothing can replace the practical advice given by operators with decades of experience with the same type of technology.
