Grieg Seafood Finnmark has chosen Pure Salmon Technology for its post-smolt expansion at Adamselv. The company, headquartered in Sandefjord, is proud and grateful to realize this project for Grieg Seafood.
Grieg Seafood is a skilled and experienced client that puts the fish at the center, which has also been a consistent focus throughout the initial phases of the project. We have jointly detailed the facility in a collaborative phase together with, among others, key personnel in RAS and operations from Grieg Seafood. Pure Salmon Technology is the EPC contractor for the process in the project, and we will continue our strong partnership with Consto as our construction partner
– Jack Tucker, Sales Manager at Pure Salmon Technology
Pure Salmon Technology stands out within land-based smolt production through its strong focus on fish welfare. Through continuous technological development and high expertise, the company strives to create optimal conditions for the fish throughout the entire farming process, with the goal of raising welfare standards across the aquaculture industry.
“Pure Salmon Technology stood out based on their knowledge and focus on fish health. But the choice was based on the overall concept, not just the RAS process solution. Salmon farming is a multidisciplinary industry where, among other things, biology, technology, and fish health work together.”
– Arvid Pedersen, Production Manager Juvenile Fish at Grieg Seafood Finnmark.
Adamselv RAS3
The facility will consist of two post-smolt modules, each with a capacity of 8,000 kg of feeding per day and a tank volume of 9,200 m³. The two post-smolt modules will receive fish from Grieg Seafood’s existing facility at Adamselv, where the smolt will grow from approximately 100 grams to approximately 1,000 grams. The project has a construction period of two years, with the first planned release of post-smolt into the sea in 2026.
“After a thorough evaluation of the supplier market, we are very satisfied with the choice of Pure Salmon Technology, which is a solid partner in both technology and biology. We have high expectations for Pure Salmon Technology regarding the delivery related to technological solutions, and that these will contribute to increased fish welfare and survival during the post-smolt phase.”
– Vidar Aamo Nikolaisen, Regional Director at Grieg Seafood Finnmark.
Post-smolt Initiatives for the Future
Pure Salmon Technology has recently made significant investments in the development of post-smolt modules tailored to the Norwegian market. Post-smolt facilities are becoming increasingly larger and more complex, and the company has worked systematically on a compact and user-friendly post-smolt solution, with a strong focus on fish welfare and fish health in addition to automation and efficient operational management.
“Grieg Seafood choosing us as a RAS supplier is a confirmation that our investment and enhanced expertise in post-smolt facilities is being recognized. We have seen an increase in activity and demand for post-smolt facilities recently. But with this, it is confirmed that we have developed a post-smolt product and expertise that aligns with the Norwegian market.”
